What's your Comfort: Amy Lim

To kick things off this October, we have Amy Lim, Marketing Strategist by day and running Kuru with a partner by night. Despite having a lot on her plate, film photography is something that remains close to Amy's heart which apparently runs in the family. Her grandfather was a photographer, and her father is an avid collector of old film cameras. Amy's journey into photography started with digital, but she stumbled on her father's Pentax k1000 one day and as they say, the rest is history. Currently, her weapon of choice is a Mamiya 6.

What started out as a joke between Amy and Melvin, the other half of Kuru, turned out into something much bigger. They both wanted easily accessible products in their homes and home offices, but simply couldn't quite find the right ones that fit. Amy and Melvin felt it was best to take things into their own hands and that was basically the starting point of Kuru. It took a while to materialise, but Amy tells us the journey has been fun.

Amy gives us a closer insight about her comfort zone:

1) Lying around in a oversized tee, with a magazine or a book
2) Having a strong cup of coffee when a wake-me-up is needed
3) Browsing at Kinokuniya or Tsutaya
4) Playing with her dog, Jill
5) Having late night discussions

Amy also loves Japan and she tries to pay a visit at least once a year. Here are some of her essential tips if you're traveling to the land of the rising sun:

1) Tokyo does not equal to Japan
2) Rent a car and embark on a road trip outside of the cities
3) If you can’t drive, get on those trains
4) Always have a camera
5) Never travel with more than 3 companions, ever

We are very happy to to welcome Kuru onboard at sifr @ PACT.
